Schiavo Passes This Morning

Here.

"Terri Schiavo, the 41-year-old brain-damaged woman who became the centerpiece of a national right-to-die battle, died Thursday morning, nearly two weeks after doctors removed the feeding tube that had sustained her for more than a decade."

I grieve for her (none / 0)

Hopefully this sad chapter has come to an end. Terri is now with her God and free from the schackles of her wasted body. I hope the Schindlers and Michael Schiavo find peace.

Terri Schiavo (3.00 / 1)

I think that this story is a tragedy.  I certainly believe it shows the hypocracy of the Republican party.  The zealot pro-life crowd waged this battle because of the perceived character of the husband and the attactiveness of Terri as a victim.  I see the parents as pawns--used by the zealots and fooled by their own hope that their daughter had or would have more function than was ever possible.

What this boiled down to was a guardianship issue--who should have control of Terri's life (and death) when she was unable to assert what she wanted or would have wanted--and then what to do in terms of continuing her life.  The doctors and the courts ruled for the husband, and what he wanted ended up happening.
